greater than “g” acceleration – falling chain. Drop a chain on a scale and see that just as the end of the chain hits the scale the scale shows three times the force of the stationary chain.

A pan scale's pan is filled with a large-link metal chain. At the moment, the scale marks 4 pounds (pounds, scandalous!).
