A belt fastened to a spring scale that is strung under tension around a bicycle powered pulley.

A leather pulley belt winds around the central pulley of a stationary bicycle. A spring scale hooked to the handlebars hangs in front of the bicycle. The pulley belt is fastened to the bottom of the spring scale, winds around the bicycle pulley, and runs back up along the handlebar shaft through the handlebars to be held by the hand of the rider. Passing the belt over the handlebars allows the rider to change the direction of the belt so that a convenient horizontal pull can control the tension.
