1M40.15 Stopped Pendulum

A pendulum started at the height of a reference line reaches the same height when a stop is inserted.

A pool ball hangs from a string fastened to a pendulum clamp, creating a pendulum. The pendulum clamp is fastened to a vertical shaft. A two-meter stick is held horizontally by a second clamp which is fastened lower down on the central shaft. The 2-meter stick is positioned such that the pool ball, when pulled back to about a 30 degree angle, will be level with the stick. Between the pendulum suspension point and the 2-meter stick is a long rod that can be slid in and out of the path of the pendulum string. A tall man (Vacek) holds the pool ball at an angle, ready to start the pendulum swinging.
