The trebuchet as an example of medieval energy conservation.
Note: The triggering mechanism for this trebuchet was supposed to be a string that was slid through the bottom branch of the trebuchet and over its arm. You would release the string to make the trebuchet fire. We found this mechanism to be very inadequate. Instead, we recommend you manually hold/release the clay projectile with your hands, if you wish to operate it.
It is also recommended to solidly anchor the trebuchet onto the surface it is firing from, lest you wish to demonstrate the more destructive aspects of the conservation of energy.
