Show the displacement of the water when the “ship” is loaded with a 1kg mass verses the mass submerged.

A short, wide, straight-sided glass bowl stands nearly full of water. An aluminum bowl with classically angled sides floats in the bowl. The aluminum bowl is holding something, but the camera angle only shows a thin sliver of the object. A video camera pointed at the glass bowl projects an enlarged image of the demo on a large screen placed behind the apparatus. Looking at the screen, it is easy to see that the aluminum bowl is very low in the water (almost submerged).
