Show that the weight of the water displaced plus the weight of the block in the water is equal to the weight of the block before submerging.

Okay, there's a vertical stack of objects in this photo, so this will take a minute. At the bottom, we have a sturdy table. On the table is a lab jack. On the lab jack is a metal pitcher with a narrow brass spout, obviously a modification. A large metal cylinder hangs suspended just over the pitcher. The metal cylinder hangs from a spring scale that currently marks about 19 N. The spring scale is supported by a table stand. A lead brick rests on the bottom plate of the table stand, keeping the entire assembly safely upright. Beside this apparatus, a clear graduated cylinder stands under the spout of the pitcher.
