Pull on a horizontal spring with a spring scale.

A dial spring scale hangs horizontally. The top hook of the scale is fixed to a table stand. The bottom hook is fastened to one end of a spring. A tall man (Vacek) holds the far end of the spring under some tension. The spring scale marks 28 N.
