Use a thick book to show shear.

An exceptionally thick book rests on a table, bottom edge facing the camera. The book's top cover has been pushed left of the bottom cover. The binding follows the angle of the covers, so that the binding and the edges of the pages run at an angle from the top left to the lower right, creating the effect of a parallelogram in this view.
