4D50.20 Diffusion through Porcelain

An unglazed porcelain cup is connected to a flask with an overflow tube. a beaker is placed over the cup and the beaker is filled with helium. The helium will produce a concentration gradient across the wall of the cup and will diffuse into the cup increasing the pressure inside and forcing water out the overflow tube. When the beaker is removed the process reverses.
