3A40.10 Circular Motion vs. Mass on Spring vs. Simple Pendulum

A mass on a spring, a simple pendulum and a rotating disc with a pointer on its edge are projected onto the side wall of the lecture hall. The disc is set into motion and the hanging mass and the pendulum are released  at the moment the pointer is at the same location.

Location: Turntable: N1-3.  Spring (thin) with vertical turntable version, E3-4. Use ~81 cm length pendulum to match 33 1/3 rpm. Load spring with 420 g.

For best effect, use light source from P2-3 with extension cord from R2-4, orient light to eliminate change of height in the shadow of the rod and go. It’s very effective.
