An cylindrical shaft, mounted on a platform with wheels and spun by a motor. A large fan provides the cross wind.
The friction between the shaft and the air blowing past it is larger at the back of the shaft, creating an area of relative high pressure, than it is at the front of the shaft, where the pressure is relatively lower. As a result Bernoulli’s law dictates that the Flettner ship will move forward.
