1D40.51 Momentum Pendulum

Set the pendulum into motion while the cart is sitting on a flat track to show that the center of mass is static.

A metal cart on low-friction wheels sits on a smooth steel track. A short vertical rod extends up from the center of the cart. At the top of the rod, a pendulum is suspended by it string. The pendulum is oriented to swing parallel to the track. The bottom of the swing of the lead pendulum bob is set just above the top of the cart.
