7A70.XX Quantum Dots

Quantum Dots Quantum dots emit different wavelengths of light when exposed to monochromatic UV light due to the transitions of electrons from excited states to the ground state. The energy gaps between the excited state and the ground state is affected by the size of the quantum dots. The bigger the quantum dot, the smaller the energy gap, and the longer wavelength of light is emitted.
