5G30.20 Paramagnetism of Liquid Oxygen

First, cool the magnets in liquid nitrogen. Place them on the tray and pour nitrogen into the cone. Oxygen will condense on the outside of the cone and drip between the poles of the magnet. An exhaust fan behind the apparatus can be used to expel condensed water vapor. A camera and television is required to show this demonstration to a large class.

Location: G1-4 (magnet), G1-6 (stand and cone) Use LED string light for good illumination
